SOIL CONSERVATION

I) STRUCTURE

The Department is headed by  Director, Soil Conservation, Orissa, Bhubaneswar, having a Soil Conservation Division at Burla under which the Asst. Soil Conservation Office is functioning at Jharsuguda. 

II.) FUNCTION OF DEPARTMENT

 i) To achieve ecological balance of the wasteland and economic upliftment of poor people

ii.) Sustainable development and management of biomass in watershed with integrated participatory approach.

iii) To conserve soil and water through:-

                   a) Creation of water bodies.

                   b) Plantation.

                   c) Gully control structure/Loose boulder structure/Rock fill dam

                       etc.

                   d) Field building/Contour Graded bund in private land.
